Welcome to the Authentic Living Blog

Welcome to the Authentic Living blog! My name is Stephanie, i’m a Montreal-based social worker with a focus on trauma and attachment. I’m thrilled to launch this cozy corner of the internet where we’ll explore the interplay of mental health, attachment styles, and the profound effects of trauma on our lives, all through stories, insights, and heartfelt educational content.

Over the last eight years, I’ve come to realize just how universal trauma is. It touches everyone, no matter their background or battles with mental health, influencing our everyday actions and the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us. My passion lies in supporting those who've faced trauma, helping them on their path to healing and rediscovery. I believe understanding trauma's many faces is key to recovery, affecting everything from our physical well-being to our emotional and mental health. At the heart of my work is creating a warm, secure environment where everyone feels safe to share and be themselves.

Building trusting, secure relationships, with my clients is at the core of my practice. It’s essential that they feel comfortable and free from judgment to truly express their authentic selves. This nurturing space helps us tackle and mend insecure attachments and uncover the deep-seated reasons behind our behaviors. These often stem from unresolved childhood experiences that continue to shape our interactions and self-perception into adulthood. Together, we delve into these early influences, unpacking and transforming the patterns that hold us back, thus setting the stage for healthier relationships and more enriching daily interactions. This journey of self-discovery and healing goes beyond fixing immediate issues—it’s about developing a deeper self-understanding and building a resilient, true-to-self persona. I’ve witnessed the transformative effects of this healing journey. While healing is not always easy, the results can profoundly enhance your overall well-being and how you see yourself and the world around you.

My passion for facilitating healing is at the heart of my professional journey. Driven by this commitment, I founded this blog as a platform to extend my reach and impact. Through this platform, I aim to share my accumulated expertise, knowledge, and practical tools, empowering others to overcome their traumas. My goal is not only to aid in healing but also to foster the development of secure attachments within relationships. By sharing insights and strategies, I hope to guide my readers toward a path of recovery and personal growth, enabling them to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

With the overwhelming amount of content available on social media and the internet, it can be challenging to differentiate between scientifically backed advice and material produced by content creators. It is important to me that the information I share on social media, including on this blog, is rooted in the latest evidence-based research that you can verify through scientific literature and multiple studies related to the topic. At the bottom of each blog post, you will find links to the journal articles and books referenced, providing direct access to these sources for further exploration.

I welcome your questions on attachment, trauma, betrayal, abandonment, or any related topics. If you have questions you'd like me to address on this blog, please let me know in the comments section below. Your questions are invaluable and will help shape the content of my future blog posts here at Authentic Living. Rest assured, all answers will be provided anonymously to protect your privacy. This is your opportunity to gain deeper insights and personalized perspectives on issues that matter to you.

Let's start this journey together, and I can't wait to share and grow with all of you here at Authentic Living!
