It's the infant asking, "Do I feel safe enough to survive this world with you?" As we grow older and begin to navigate friendships, romances, and a myriad interpersonal dynamics, this question evolves as we seek relationships that offer trust, understanding, and authenticity: "Can I be my true self with you? Will you stand by me through the highs and lows?"
